about

Originally titled 'Blue Water Ditch'. I've had the same guitar amp since the late 1980s. If I turn the volume and reverb all the way up on the distorted channel and quickly tap the footswitch it makes a terrifying belch, like the horns of the Rapture calling the faithful and virtuous home. Before samplers and DAW recording became a regular part of my life I could never find a proper use for that sound. This track always makes me think of a pilot who's been forced to ditch in the middle of the ocean at night. Floating there in a place where light pollution doesn't exist, I imagine the stars look especially beautiful, and I wonder if you'd notice the beauty in the midst of being virtually certain of your own imminent demise.
